About

As an international student at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, I am currently in my fifth year of pursuing a degree in architecture. My journey in architecture began in 2009 when I was just six years old. During that time, I was living in Delhi, and the near completion of the Burj Khalifa sparked my passion for architecture. My grandmother’s encouragement to design the next tallest building solidified my career aspirations. Later, moving to Dubai and witnessing the buildings I had only seen in newspapers further fueled my determination to pursue architecture.

Studying in Chicago, the birthplace of modern architecture, has been a transformative experience. The city’s rich architectural heritage has allowed me to explore various designs and learn from iconic projects such as the Riverwalk, Crown Hall, and Millennium Park. This exposure has significantly influenced my design approach, enabling me to blend modern aesthetics with traditional influences.

Vision and Philosophy

My architectural philosophy is rooted in the belief that design should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also functionally efficient and contextually relevant. I strive to create spaces that inspire and serve the community, integrating sustainable practices and innovative solutions. My architecture philosophy is to help people feel contentment and happy regarding their built environment.

Life and architecture are inherently complex, but we should not be daunted by this complexity. Instead, I aim to find sleek solutions that achieve their intended purposes, no matter how complex the problem. I am particularly passionate about the innovative use of materials, human-centered design, and environmentally friendly architecture. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to gain and learn as much as possible to reach my aspirations to make people inhabiting the buildings or projects I make smile and have a sense of happiness even it lasts for a minute.

Professional Experience

I have completed three internships that have significantly contributed to my growth as an aspiring architect:

  • BSBG, Dubai (Summer 2023): I led a team of two in designing a beach club on the roof of a building and contributed to bay studies. I also applied my Rhino and Grasshopper skills to assist the interiors team in creating complex product designs.
  • Custom Design Stories, Gurugram (Summer 2022): I was involved in designing a bamboo pavilion and utilized my expertise in Rhino and Grasshopper to design building facades.
  • Al Futtaim Construction, Dubai (Summer 2019): I conducted site surveys, gaining valuable on-ground experience in construction practices.

Achievements

I have had the privilege of achieving notable milestones in my academic and professional journey. I was the first-place runner-up in the Spectacular Design Competition for the “Loop Pavilion“, a project that showcased my ability to blend creativity with practicality. Additionally, I secured the first position in the HackSimBuild competition, demonstrating my capability to innovate under pressure. My team and I were also honored with the 2024 IIT Dwight T. Black Honorable Mention for our project, “The Host.”
