A new icon for the landscape of the Chicago skyline, ‘The Host’ allows for a universal space to exist with a library on the lower level. The circulation of the building is from a central core which holds the complex structure, vertical circulation and the mechanical systems. This allows for the maximum open space that can be occupied.
Elevated from the ground into the high rises, this building provides sweeping views of the city and stands out as the tallest mass timber building.

In this project, I was less incharge of the design itself but had a more managerial role in assigning and making sure the work was done. This allowed for smooth conversations with the professor and allowed us to remain on track throughout the project. Beside that, I worked heavily on Grasshopper for sun studies as well as on the structural and mechanical systems. I also made the renders for the project using Enscape and Photoshop.
